Breaking the Ice with Interns – How NetApp Created an Amazing Experience with Art

When the HR team at NetApp reached out to us, they had one clear mission — create an unforgettable experience for their interns. Not just another orientation or pizza party. Something fun and engaging. Something that people would remember.

And here’s the twist, most of the 30 interns were young men from engineering and analytics backgrounds, not your typical "art experience" crowd. So we knew we had to design a workshop that would feel easy, not intimidating. Playful, but meaningful.

We curated a special Resin clock workshop, tailored for beginners with zero artistic experience. Our instructors guided them step-by-step, but also gave them room to explore their own style.

We had 2 options for people to choose from. Resin marble clock and Resin galaxy clock.

What unfolded was unexpected.

Interns who were quiet at the start began opening up, discussing colours, asking questions, and even helping each other. There were laughs, quiet focus, and a few “Whoa, this is actually good!” reactions. One intern proudly said, “I didn’t think I could paint. But now I want to frame this!”

By the end of the session, the room was filled with vibrant clocks and even more vibrant energy. This wasn’t just art, It was something else.

At Art Beat, we believe that art can be the great leveler. And this session at NetApp proved just that, when you give people the space to create, they surprise even themselves.
